News
october 2009 This is great news. The Church of the Nazarene in St. Johns has graciously given us permission to hold a men's domestic violence group in their beautiful facility. So, for the first time, Clinton County has its own fully State Standards compliant batterer program. The new group meets on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 at the church. This makes life much easier for St. Johns area men who have been driving way too far to attend groups in Lansing. Attending 42 or 26 weeks of classes is tough enough without having to drive 30 miles one way to get there. For a map to any of the three group sites go to the Contact page on the sidebar.
NEW DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GROUP SCHEDULE

Tuesdays - 6:00 p.m. in St. Johns
Wednesdays - 9:00 a.m. at the White House in Lansing
Wednesdays - 6:00 p.m. in Okemos
SEPTEMBER 2009 On August 28, 2009, the Community of Faith Subcommittee of the Capital Area Domestic and Sexual Violence Coordinating Council officially became Open Eyes of Faith. The goal is to prevent abuse in relationships through faith. Their new Board met on that date to elect their first officers and complete the process of incorporation. Openeyes was able to make this dramatic transformation with the assistance of a grant from the Power of We Consortium. We thank them for giving us the support we needed to move forward like this. Congratulations to Openeyes, the new Board and their new officers: President, Bonnie Nicholas; Vice-president, Wanda Price; Treasurer, Susan Shoultz; and Secretary, Donald Wilde.

JUNE 2009 Late in May 2009, GroundWork Counseling (GWC) became one of the first domestic violence programs in the State of Michigan to be added to the list of such programs that meet all State requirements for men's batterer programs. Dr. Wilde has been an active member of the Batterer Intervention Provider Standards Compliance Council (BIPSCC) since its inception several years ago. He is proud that GWC is included on this new state-wide listing and encourages all other batterer programs to seek full compliance with State Standards. For a link to the State Standards, click here.
